Wage theft occurs when U.S. workers or immigrant workers do not receive their legally or contractually promised wages. The most common forms of wage theft are:
- Forcing workers to work off the clock
- Refusing to pay overtime
- Shaving hours from time cards
- Paying less than minimum wage
- Outright refusal to pay for work performed
